As a condition of your enrollment at California State University, Fresno you will be automatically enrolled in the Fresno State-approved health insurance policy when residing in the United States. JCB Insurance Solution manages international health insurance for Fresno State.
Important: Your health insurance provider has been changed to Geo Blue for 2023-2024 to maintain the best health insurance plan available to you at an affordable rate available.
Fall 2023
- Cost varies by semester based on the dates of coverage.
- $722.86 charge will appear on your cashier's bill for the required health insurance policy
- Covers: August 9, 2023 - January 8, 2024
Spring 2024
- Cost varies by semester based on the dates of coverage.
- $977.14 charge will appear on your bill
- Covers: January 9, 2024 - August 8, 2024
- International Health Insurance is automatically billed to your student account.
- You will receive a welcome email from Geo Blue with instructions to access your Geo Blue account and medical ID card.
- Register for your JCB Student Health Account in order to update your contact information and view important plan details at www.jcbins.com.
- After you have a place to live, a local address, login to your JCB account at www.jcbins.com to update your address. The default address is the International Office: 5150 N. Maple Ave M/S JA56, Fresno, CA 93740.
- Your Geo Blue Medical ID Card will NOT be available online until your insurance start date of 8/9/2023. If you are a late transfer/enrollee at Fresno State, your Medical ID Card will not be available until 2-3 weeks after your enrollment in the plan!
- Geo Blue Medical ID Cards are electronic only. You will be able to print your Medical ID Card from the Geo Blue site or save a copy of it to your smartphone.
- It is IMPORTANT to show your Medical ID Card whenever you receive medical treatment.
- Health Insurance does NOT COVER dental, vision, spouse, or dependents. For VOLUNTARY self-enrollment options click on this link.
- If you use the Fresno State Student Health Center, save your receipts!! You will have to pay the cost upfront and then you should refer directly to Geo Blue for claims/bills assistance.

Where do I go when I am sick?
On-Campus Fresno State Student Health & Counseling Center
Schedule an appointment with the Student Health & Counseling Center through your online Health Portal, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:45 PM. For more information, visit their website.
Off-Campus Geo Blue Preferred Provider
- Download the Geo Blue TeleMD app to be seen via your smartphone or create an online account at http://www.geobluestudents.com/.
- Locate a Preferred Provider off-campus and schedule an appointment. Call Geo Blue at 844-268-2686, or find a provider on the Geo Blue App or online at http://www.geobluestudents.com/.
- Show your electronic Medical ID Card whenever you are treated.
- Receive an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) within 6-8 weeks of treatment.
What happens after I receive medical treatment?
- Most doctors will send your medical claims directly to Geo Blue for processing.
- If you receive a bill directly from a doctor’s office or hospital, call Geo Blue at (844) 268-2686 to ensure they have received it as well.
- You will receive an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from Geo Blue. The EOB will show what was paid to your doctor and if you have any out-of-pocket cost.
- If you have any out-of-pocket cost, you may receive a bill from your doctor. Make sure to pay your bills AFTER confirming that Geo Blue has paid their portion.

Those students who have coverage provided by a sponsoring organization, such as the Saudi Arabian Cultural Mission, will not be required to enroll in the Fresno State-approved health insurance plan. Please purchase travel insurance ONLY for the period that you will be in the United States that is not covered by the effective dates of the policy listed above.
